Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
